iPath is an open source framework for implementing telehealth applications. Since it is developed mainly at a pathology department, there is a slight focus on telepathology. At the core is the open source iPath-Server, an extensible telemedicine database sever with a web based interface. The iPath Server provides something like a medical discussion forum, where cases can be easily presented to others, discussed and commented within dedicated user groups. As iPath is a very flexible system there are many different possibilities of using it. Getting started Once your group is open, it is up to you to find and add other user for your group, but the techinical adminitration is very simple. The system is developed and tested under Linux with Apache/PHP and Postgres-SQL. But it is also running under Windows with IIS and MySQL database, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle should work as well. If you feel unsure, please contact the developers of iPath for help in deciding what is a good option for you.

1. Regsiter with an existing discussion group:
The easiest way for starting is to join an existing discussion/consultation group. Please check the group list and contact the moderator of any group you would like to join.
2. Start your own group:
If you should prefer to start your own group, please register with our main server and contact the site administrator.
3. Install your own iPath-Server
With this option you have the complete freedom on what you want to do with your own server. However, to install your own server you need someone with good skills in installing and maintaining a www-server.
